The Rock and Gem Show is a high energy, educational family event that attracts about 10,000 visitors each year. So what's going on? Lots. Rocks, minerals, fossils, jewelry, and dealers - of course. But there's also 50 educational exhibits, Speakers on Dinosaurs. Large Shark and marine fossil exhibit and a Fluorescent Room filled with vibrant colored minerals. Activities include gold panning (take home some real gold!), make a bracelet, touch and see tables with most of the minerals and rocks in the CA Earth Science books, geode cutting, free gem and rock identification, and a whole lot more. Demonstrations all day. Oh, and great food and free parking.
What will I be doing? Helping people put on wrist bands, handing out papers at admission, working in a booth (making bracelets, gemstone bags, Touch and See, magnetics, and treasure hunt). You will NOT be handling money.
Do I need to sign up? Yes, you need to call and sign up for a specific shift so we know when to expect you and have a place for you to work.
How do I sign up? Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Ms. Mendoza at (209) 312-3812 or misseyangela@aol.com
